![]() ![]() YAC = The Philip Aziz Centre ‘s Youth Advisory Council is a group of teens and young adults striving to make a difference in the lives of other youth who face the challenges of living with a life limiting illness. YAC has been together since fall of 2007 and has fundraised over $100,000 by the initiation of 4 Charity Golf Tournaments and 3 Christmas Drives. Money raised from these events has helped send kids to camp, enjoy after school programs and have helped brighten up their Christmases. YAC is currently working on the 5th Annual Philip Aziz Centre’s Charity Golf Tournament and Heart for Hospice. Recognition for YAC Members …YAC Brooke Harrison has won the 2011-2012 Region violet Richardson Award by placing first in a competition of 12 applicants. The judges were very impressed with Brooke’s involvement in community work. Philip Aziz Centre will receive $1000 US for her application. In 2011, Youth Advisory Council was presented the Change our World-Community Award from Character Community. This award is given to an individual or organization that demonstrates character in making effective community changes in our world. The 2011 Character Community Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre.
