Philanthropy Award to YAC's Brooke Harrison Print E-mail

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter Announces 2010 Philanthropy Award Winners

Brooke’s love for philanthropy began at age 6, when her 5 year old cousin was diagnosed with leukemia. Wanting to help, Brooke began writing stories, selling them for 5-10 cents each. At age 8 and 11 she published two cook books that raised over $60,000 for Childhood Leukemia Research. In 2007 Brooke began raising funds for the children’s camp fund at the Philip Aziz Centre for Hospice Care. She created the Youth Advisory Council, which this year raised $34,000, through its annual charity golf tournament. Driven by creativity and compassion, Brooke has inspired other young people to join her in making a positive difference by helping others.
